Position Purpose:
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of NuWave Research’s office and warehouse.
  • Assist with assembly of NuWave machinery.

Facility Cleaning duties and responsibilities:
  • Follow safety protocols and use cleaning supplies and equipment properly.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is in good working condition and report any defects.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
  • Sweep, wash and vacuum office floors, stairwells, lunchroom and kitchen areas; sanitize kitchen counters and coffee area.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks and mirrors
  • Wash windows, walls and glass.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners.
  • Inform the Shop Foreman of hazardous materials for safe disposal.
  • Dust and clean surfaces, including desks, tables and windowsills.
  • Replenish supplies in restrooms, break rooms and other areas as needed (i.e. paper towels and soap dispensers are filled).
  • Maintain cleaning supply inventory and request supplies as needed.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum and power-wash heavy duty shop and warehouse floors. Wipe down machinery, clear oil spills immediately, and keep tool racks organized.

Shop Assistant duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist the Shop Foreman, Lead Electrician and Engineers with assembly of machinery, workplace prep work and material staging.
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing freight shipments safely.
  • Transport heavy pallets and restock raw production materials or shop supplies.
  • Run external errands using personal vehicle for parts pick up and shop supplies.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Class 5 clean driver’s license with access to a car is required.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1(OFA 1) is an asset.
  • Forklift certification is an asset.

Experience:
  •  Basic experience with and comfort handling standard hand tools and power tools.
  • Experience with janitorial tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper usage.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 lb. 
  • Ability to stand, walk and bend for extended periods.
  • Safety Awareness – using personal protective equipment (PPE) like steel-toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection.
